Jia Kang, PhD
Jia joined Elmore Patent Law Group in 2022 after serving as a patent agent at a niche IP firm specializing in life sciences and biotechnology. She brought with her a deep well of experience conducting startup diligence, assessing IP opportunities, and devising patent filing strategies in diverse fields including antisense oligonucleotides, rare diseases, and protein engineering.
As a patent agent at EPLG, Jia evaluates invention disclosures, investigates prior art, assesses patentability, crafts patent applications, corresponds with global patent offices, and maximizes a patent application’s chances of success through strategic application amendments.
Jia earned her Ph.D. in polymer science and has written extensively in this arena, but she is skilled in advancing patent applications across a broad range of disciplines, from biologics and small molecule pharmaceuticals, to pioneering enhancements in established materials. The analytical abilities and written communication skills that she fine-tuned in her Ph.D. work and her fluency in Chinese make her a uniquely effective patent agent.
